TOYOTA SERVICE MANAGER GOES THE EXTRA MILE TO ASSIST STRANDED TRAVELLER
On the 20th of April, at about 11.30am my car broke down 10kms outside Wongan Hills.
I was on my way to Jurian Bay with my family for a nice school holiday break.
The Battery charging light came on and after inquiring from the visitor information centre, I ended up at your local Toyota dealer speaking to the Service Manager Gerard Buitendijk.
The service I received was exceptional and I wanted everyone to know how one of your locals saved our day.
After a quick diagnosis, it was discovered that my alternator had failed.
Mr Buitendijk said that there was no Alternator locally but found that there was one in Northam.
He also arranged for a mechanic to fit it for me in Northam, and soon I was on my way.
However, the car refused to move after about 20kms on the way there.
Mr Buitendijk agreed to come and pick up the car and my family, while I continued to Northam in a second car to get the alternator.
By the time I got back, the car was at the dealership with the faulty part out, while my family was enjoying the hospitality of Toyota.
After the new alternator was replaced we were back on our way at 6:30 pm.
Had it not been for Mr Buitendijk’s proactiveness and great service we would have been stranded.
He was definitely our hero of the day.
When something bad happens it quickly gets into the newspaper.
I was hoping that you publish this good story about a local everyday hero.
